Tre Vänner | About us
Our story
Tre Vänner was founded in 1995 by screenwriters Michael Hjorth, Johan Kindblom and Tomas Tivemark. Having previously been a traditional production company for television, film and commercials, operations are now based on a business concept that is both broader and clearer.
“Tre Vänner creates worlds that people want to return to.”
This means that each world, with its stories and characters, can meet its audience not only through film, television and on the web – it can just as easily be expressed through the written word or theater, or in another format.
Thanks to its origins, Tre Vänner has been able to build up a creative environment that maintains an obvious business focus at all levels – from the creation of the stories themselves to the later stages of the process, including development, financing, production, launch and post-market activities. This boundless view is unique in Sweden and quite rare even abroad.
Tre Vänner is an international organisation with its base in Scandinavia. We have offices in Sweden and Norway. We also have fast growing operations in several other countries, including Germany. The rights to remake Easy Money, a trilogy based on Jens Lapidus’ novel Stockholm Noir, have been sold to Warner Bros for a new US production and a global launch.
We are currently producing the first series of ten episodes for TV and two feature films of The Fjällbacka Murders, based on international best-seller Camilla Läckberg’s characters and their world. These productions are for the European market.
Filming Karin Fossum’s series of novels on Constable Konrad Seijer, for which we own rights to all ten books, will begin shortly. This will take place in Norway and is aimed at the European market.
We are also working on the filming of Strindbergs stjärna (Strindberg’s star) where we are preparing for large international investments and an international cast.
